GENERAL GUIDELINE FOR APPLICATION SUBMISSION FOR ANY AQUATIC PT SECTION AWARD

  • Must be typed and be able to be sent via internet but can be sent via fax (703-706-8575) or mail (Aquatic PT Section, APTA, 1055 N Fairfax Street, Suite 205, Alexandria, VA 22314)
  • Must be auto-signed by the individual submitting this application
    The one-page application must be completed by the primary submitter; be included with letter(s) of recommendation and submitted as a single packet of information.
  • Letter(s) of recommendation must be no more than 500 words.
  • Deadline of December 20 to submit applications
2017 AquaticPT Section Award Recipients

Congratulations to the 2017 APTA Aquatic Physical Therapy Section Judy Cirullo award for Exceptional Contribution to the Area of Aquatic Therapy winner Michael Murray PT, DPT. This Award recognizes a PT’s exceptional contribution to the field of Aquatic Therapy and can include but is not limited to equipment design; innovative programming or patient care, educational contribution. Michael was recognized for his outstanding promotion of Aquatic Therapy through service and his clinical practice.

Congratulations to the 2017 APTA Aquatic Physical Therapy Section Richard Ruoti Research Award for Excellence winner Paula Geigle, PT PhD. This award is named for one of the founders of the of the Aquatic PT Section who was dedicated to exemplary research in the area of aquatic therapy, this Award recognizes exceptional research that impacts Aquatic Physical Therapy.

Congratulations to the 2017 APTA Aquatic Physical Therapy Section Excellence in Aquatic Therapy Award winner

 Dr. Bruce Becker. This award recognizes exceptional research, exemplary dedication, and/or extraordinary contributions to the comprehensive field of aquatic therapy. The intent of this award is to fulfill the Section's commitment to the perse aspects of aquatic therapy by recognizing those whose influence has driven this area of physical therapy.

Richard Ruoti Research Award for Excellence

Named for one of the founders of the of the Aquatic PT Section who was dedicated to exemplary research in the area of aquatic therapy, this Award recognizes exceptional research that impacts Aquatic Physical Therapy.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The potential recipient must be a licensed physical therapist or physical therapy assistant in good standing with the Aquatic Section at the time of the application submission.
  • The following documents are required by deadline: December 20, 2016
  • Letter of Recommendation written by an Aquatic PT Section member in good standing, and must include why this applicant is worthy to receive the Section's highest research award.
  • List of published research that qualifies this applicant for consideration for the Ruoti Award.
  • Copy of the published research article or abstract that is being presented as evidence of this candidate's research efforts.

    • The potential recipient must be a licensed physical therapist or physical therapy assistant in good standing with the Aquatic PT Section at the time of the application submission.

Excellence in Aquatic Therapy Award

This award is for the Aquatics Physical Therapy Section to recognize exceptional research, exemplary dedication, and/or extraordinary contributions to the comprehensive field of aquatic therapy. The intent of this award is to fulfill the Section's commitment to the diverse aspects of aquatic therapy by recognizing those whose influence has driven this area of physical therapy.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The potential recipient must work in the area of Aquatic Therapy at the time of application submission.
  • The application is to be submitted a member of the Aquatics PT Section in good standing at the time of application submission.
  • The following documents are required by deadline: December 20, 2016
  • (2) Letters of Recommendation which site the contribution(s) to the field of Aquatic Physical Therapy of the candidate. Letters must include a defense of why this individual is worthy to receive the only award that the Aquatic PT Section includes for non-member eligibility; include published research/documentation if possible.

Anniversary Pin Awards

Have you been a member of the aquatic physical therapy section for 5, 10 or 15 consecutive years?

We would like to recognize you and you're that accomplishment with an anniversary pin to be awarded at our aquatic section business meetings during APTA combined section meeting each year. You may nominate yourself or nominate someone whom has been a member of the aquatic section for 5 consecutive years, 10 years or 15 years.

Pins are awarded on your anniversary date. Example: if you have been a member for 7 years today. You can nominate yourself for a 5 year pin. You would not be eligible for a 10 year pin until that anniversary date.

It is easy; just fill out the Nomination Form and e-mail it to the aquatic association office.
