About Carrie Thorson, PT
Carrie Thorson graduated from the Physical Therapy program at California State University Long Beach in 1987. She has worked in acute care, acute rehab, cardiac rehab, wound care, skilled nursing facilities, home health, and outpatient clinics, treating orthopedic and neuro clients in land and pool-based settings.
Having worked as an aquatic professional since 1999, she launched Aquatic Rehab & Consulting, a two-location business in Southern California, in 2004. She treats a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics, ortho, neuro, and chronic pain, and enjoys interacting with clients of all ages and diagnoses. ARC's youngest client is 9 months and the oldest is 90.
Carrie is an adjunct faculty member for Chapman University's Physical Therapy program, assisted with editing the Aquatic Physical Therapy Section's certificate in clinical competency, and is the California campus director for Aquatic Therapy University where she instructs fellow Physical Therapists in aquatic therapy continuing education.
Her participation in the Academy allows her to interact with like-minded aquatic professionals and take part in continuing education opportunities. Her membership keeps her up-to-date with clinical research and techniques, while also allowing her to give back through presentations, teaching, and volunteering.
Carrie lives with her husband and three children in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. When she's not in the pool, you can find her cycling with her colleague Michelle, jogging with her doberman Rizzo, and traveling.
